TRIMARAN FOR SALE

Sailboat for sale!

Our Trimaran Archeopterix which we built 1999 and sailed across the Atlantic is now on the market. Because of twists and turns in live we now have decided to sell the boat.

The boat is the perfect match for sailing in reef areas like Belize and Honduras because of it's shallow draft and good sailing performance. It is very spacious but keeps things simple, so little time in maintenance and lots of time for exploring and having fun.

PRICE: 25,000 USD

Accommodation
The boat has two cabins divided by a center cockpit. The main cabin has a v-berth with a spacious double berth. The aft cabin has two single bunks for visitors. Extra room to accommodate extra people is the cockpit and a settee in the salon.
So the boat sleeps 4 persons comfortable plus 3 more if necessary.

Galley
The galley has a LPG stove with 2 burners. A real household sink makes cleaning dishes a simple task. The sink has 2 faucets. Freshwater is pumped manually for better control of flow, seawater is pumped electrically. 11 drawers and a big compartment can accommodate all food and dishes easily.

Interior Layout
The main cabin is held in a modern studio like design, so no interior walls break up the space and give nice roomy feeling. The table on the starboard side is fixed, so no folding away every time you want to get by and things can stay where they are as long as needed.

Electrical System
The boat is powered by a 12V DC System. 2 Siemens Solar panels of 55W each charge a single battery of 105Ah. This is enough for music, lighting, fans, autopilot, navigation instruments, and a laptop.

Fuel and Gas
The fuel is stored in a compartment under the cockpit in 2 tanks with 6 gallons each. The tanks can be removed for easy refill if necessary. 12 Gallons allow a range of 120nm under engine @ 5kn cruising speed.
LPG is stored in 2 tanks in a drained locker in the cockpit in 2 tanks of 2.8kg each. A third tank comes extra with the boat.

Electronics and Navigation Equipment
VHF radio
Handheld radio connected to mast top antenna range 15nm
Autopilot
Autohelm 4000+ tiller pilot
GPS
Garmin
AIS

Networking
NMEA network connects GPS to Autopilot and AIS
Compass

Depth

Sails and Rigging
Sloop rigged, mainsail area 27 sqm, furling jib area 20 sqm.
The mainsail has 3 reefing points. There is no traveller in the cockpit to take up space, instead the mainsail is controlled by 2 sheets, each with a tripple pulley setup for perfect control. The same setup works as preventers as well.
A storm jib of 3 sqm

Steering
Kolderstock (vertical tiller) in center cockpit operates the rudder in the back of the boat with stainless steel cable. The ratio of tiller to rudder is 1:1, but because of the balanced rudder the boat steers like a dinghy.
The Autopilot is made for a 12,000 kg boat and handles the 2 ton trimaran in any condition. It has steered the boat for more than 15,000 nm and still shows no sign of wear.

Ground Tackle
A Buegel-anchor (16kg) with 20 meters of 8mm chain and 40 meters of 14mm Nylon line make anchoring easy in almost any ground.
A 10kg Britany-anchor with 10 meters of chain.
Anchoring line 50 meters, 14mm Nylon.
Third anchor Danforth-folding-aluminium.

Dinghy
A 3.25 meter Banana-boat serves as the Tender. The Banana-boat is a foldable rowing boat that can seat 3 people, sometimes 4 people if necessary and is made from Polypropilene sheets. So it does not have the disadvantage of loosing air, it weighs 22 kg without settes and if folded does not take up more space than a surfboard. For short trips it just rests on the net between hull and the outrigger and for passages is folded and tied to the side of the main hull.

Extras
Underwater window located beneath stairs.
You get a nice look at the ground, coral and fish. This is your X-ray few through the hull. The window is 20 cm in diameter and has a waterproof lid for extra security.

Sea anchor : A 27 sqm parachute is used as a sea anchor and holds the bow into the wind in any condition.
